Turkish Delights
April 30, 2009 in Featured Article by Fractional Ownership MagazineThe advent of low-cost flights to a range of airports, together with its enviable location at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, have made Turkey an increasingly popular destination, particularly for British holidaymakers. Add to that an excellent climate, areas of unspoilt natural beauty and some fascinating historical sights, and you have a holiday recipe that is pretty much perfect.

Turkey is a country of people who are hugely welcoming and friendly, while its towns and countryside are a fascinating mix of modern culture and historic legacy.
A kaleidoscope of spectacular historic ruins from the Roman, Greek and Ottoman periods, bustling bazaars, sophisticated towns and thermal spas and springs means that Turkey, as a holiday destination, really does have something for everyone.
The classical city of Ephesus, in particular, is wellreserved and gives a real feel as to what life was like in ancient times. The modern towns and the bazaars are great fun to explore as well, although the traffic in the towns can be chaotic to say the least! Turkey is also developing its thermal springs and spa areas and there are several locations offering a range of treatments and experiences. And sampling the local cuisine – which is delicious and generally good value – is an excellent way to relax after a day of exploration.
After listening to its members and recognising the increasing popularity of Turkey, RCI has been successful in introducing some exciting new Turkish resorts to its exchange network.
RCI works with some of the country’s leading resort developers and is proud to welcome four high-quality resorts on the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts, as well as in the spectacular countryside regions of Izmir, Mugla and Antalya.
Fancy your own yacht?
RCI is very excited about an affiliation with the new Tatil Borasi Yacht Club in Turkey. The yachts are fully-crewed and comprise an allinclusive holiday package. The Tatil Borasi Yacht Club’s Lavezzi 40 catamarans sail out of Fethiye to explore the Aegean coast, calling in at Bodrum and other picturesque towns and cities along the way. The vessels comprise spacious living areas, including a salon with full 360-degree panoramic views. This is an excellent example of how local developers are being creative and innovative in working with RCI to bring fresh holiday ideas to its members.
Mountain retreat
Nestling among olive and palm trees between the Kazdagi mountains and the Aegean, Kusadasi is home to newly RCI-affiliated resort Holiday & Leisure Club – Kusadasi. This resort is easily accessible from the airport at Izmir and the area not only enjoys a long history of art and culture, it is also close to a range of beaches. The spectacular ruins of the ancient city of Ephesus are within easy reach, as are the unique thermal cascades of Pamukkale. Kusadasi also claims 300 days of sunshine each year.
